Roland Rechtsteiner is a Partner within the Corporate Risk Practice of Oliver Wyman, based in Zurich. Oliver Wyman is part of Marsh & McLennan Companies (MMC).

Roland Rechtsteiner is responsible for Corporate Risk advisory in Continental Europe. During his over 10 years of top management consulting he has built up expertise across an array of key issues in Industrial Markets and Corporate Strategy in Europe and the US with a special focus on the energy industry including:

  • Corporate development strategy and planning for top tier energy firms including product portfolio strategy, energy mix planning, M&A strategies, etc.
  • Hedging strategies in the long- and short-term periods
  • Generation strategies for different conventional fuel types
  • Portfolio strategies in the renewable sector including M&A activities
  • Regional expansion into Central and Eastern Europe
  • Innovative risk transfer solutions specific to the power industry
  • Risk management and integration of risk component into strategic decision making
  • Economic capital models

Furthermore, Mr. Rechtsteiner is heading the Marsh & McLennan/Oliver Wyman activities in the World Economic Forum's (WEF) Global Risk Programme, which deals with the identification and assessment of global risks to society, environment and business as well as the development of innovative mitigation options on corporate and political level.

Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Mr. Rechtsteiner was working for a major strategy consulting group, where he conducted numerous assignments in the field of corporate strategy for various industries as well as built-up a division for strategic risk management services. Major projects included a variety of strategic risk management assignments, international Merger & Acquisition topics, corporate and business unit strategies as well as major performance improvement projects in North and Latin America, Europe and Japan.

Roland holds a Master of Engineering from Darmstadt University of Technology in Germany and studied business at the Universities of Stuttgart, Hagen and Bamberg in Germany.
